The Plattsburgh City School District is exploring interest in the addition of a Universal Prekindergarten class.  Students must be Plattsburgh City residents.  This half-day class would be housed at Bailey Avenue Elementary School for children who will four years of age on or before December 1, 2008.  It will be taught by a certified early childhood teacher and teaching assistant, with a maximum of 18 students in each session.

There will be two half-day sessions each day during the regular school year.  Tentative hours for the morning session will be 8:30-11:00 a.m. and 12:00-2:30 p.m. for the afternoon session.  Parents will be responsible for their child’s transportation to and from school.

The decision to create the Prekindergarten classes will be made after reviewing the parent interest survey which can be downloaded by clicking here or picked up at any elementary school.  The completed survey must be returned no later than May 23rd.  For additional information, please contact Mary Louise Lamberti, Principal of Momot Elementary School, at 563-1140.

By the end of this school year and after a review of the surveys, parents will be notified whether or not a Prekindergarten program will be implemented at Bailey Avenue Elementary School.
