Special Education Department
Consultant Teacher Model classrooms are “push in” classes designed to assist students while in their mainstream classes. Faculty from the Special Education department are present in the classroom to assist with delivery of instruction, organization, behavior management, note-taking, methodology and strategies. Awareness of student assignments, content of coursework and student behavior are all benefits special education students receive while participating in the model. Alternative forms of instruction are utilized which address learning styles, hands-on teaching, and a flexible staff who work together to provide an environment for success. Multiple teachers are present in the classroom at one time, offering additional assistance, timely feedback and differing teaching styles.
