Through the American Councils for International Education, Mr. Lustig coordinates several exchange programs which have sent students to Plattsburgh from countries such as Afghanistan, Tajikistan and the Ukraine. This year PHS hosted an exchange student from Montenegro.
Currently, PHS participates in three exchange programs:
Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES) – students from Afghanistan
Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX) – students from the 12 new independent states of the former Soviet Union
American Serbia & Montenegro Youth Leadership Exchange (A-SMYLE) - operated through the US Embassy in Serbia
Exchange students come to PHS through one of these US State Department sponsored programs, lives with a local family, and attends PHS. Host families and PHS students learn about the exchange student’s home country, culture and traditions and, in turn, help to give them a great experience, living in United States and learning about us.
If you would like to host an exchange student next year, Please contact Mr. Lustig at (518)-963-7789 or contact the Plattsburgh High School main office at 561-7500.
