School Nurse - Immunizations

The New York State Public Health Law requires all students be adequately immunized against the following:

  • Poliomyelitis – 3 doses
  • Diphtheria/Tetanus – 3 doses
  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 doses after one year of age
  • German Measles (Rubella) – 1 dose after one year of age up to puberty
  • Mumps – 1 dose after one year of age
  • Hepatitis B – 3 doses
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis (Tdap) – 1 dose born on or after 1/1/94 or enrolling in 6th grade
  • Varicella – 1 dose born on or after 1/1/94 or enrolling in 6th grade

If a student transfers to the district from out of state they have 30 days to obtain adequate immunizations.  If they are transferring to the district within New York State they have 14 days to obtain adequate immunizations. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in the student being omitted from school until adequate immunizations are obtained.
