ON THE RIGHT TRACK FROM STEAM TO RAIL 1870-1930

Overview:Students will learn about the development of the railway system and how it impacted the lives of people and the economy during the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Throughout this unit, students will gain understanding in the following areas: Steam engines, economic impact, Adirondack railroad and local impact, Plattsburgh Traction Co., Transcontinental Railroad and mapping. Students will also use literature an ELA activities to enhance their understanding of the development of the railway system.
