FABULOUS FAIRY TALES, FOLK TALES AND FABLES

Grade Level: 3/4 multidisciplinary unit

Overview:This multi-disciplinary unit consists of three segments: students will be exposed to folk literature * from different cultures through reading, writing, listening and speaking; students will develop an awareness of different cultures from around the world through the detailed study if a folk literature; students will write their own original version of folk literature (fable, folk, or fairy tale) or retell a familiar tale. This unit is an integrated method for preparing students for the 4th. grade ELA test.

*due to the large number of different types of folk literature, for the purpose of this unit, we limited the exploration to fairy tales, fables and folk tales.
