Overview:Through the study of several related works of literature, in conjunction with the study of the US Constitution, “The History of Intolerance in America” materials, and current events, students will discuss and explore their own cultural values. In addition to the reading and study of “Flowers for Algernon”, Whirligig and Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes, to coming of age books, will be used as the basis for discussion and exploration. Additionally supplements will be added as the year prowesses, but the focus will be to examine an individual’s struggle to find a cultural and personal identity n a rapidly changing democratic society
