Take a Journey on the Underground Railroad

Grade Level: Grade 2 and 4 team unit

Overview:This unit is designed to be taught to second and fourth grade students. The content will be taught independently to each grade level class and then integrated through a reading buddy system. Students will discover that slaves came to the United States by force. By listening, reading and responding to literature, students should develop empathy and an understanding of the plight of the slave in the 1800’s.
