Overview: In this unit, students will learn that knowledge of matter is essential to their understanding of the living and physical environment around them. Students will participate in hands on activities and experiments that allow them to hypothesize, collect, and interpret data as they experience how matter impacts the quality of our lives. They will participate in a research endeavor of one of the known elements. The culminating activity will require students to create a poster board and three-dimensional model of their findings and present their project in an “Element Science Fair”.
